Two places in the city that we like include a hotel in the middle of the French Quarter and a guest house where Edgar Degas stayed when he lived in New Orleans. We know that many people are savvy at locating their own accommodations but if you have further questions email or call

New Orleans and the French Quarter are on the banks of the Mississippi River. Once a booming port city, it is home to unique food, sounds and sights in the country. Here's a small sampling of the things you can do in the area.

Eat & Drink

New Orleans cuisine consists of an amalgam of French, Spanish, African, Cuban, Italian, and Cajun cooking traditions and practices. Local dishes such as gumbo, jambalaya, etouffee, and blackened fish can be found here.

Play

The Big Easy is known as the birthplace of Jazz. You can find some of the best live music, not only in the French Quarter, but also on the outskirts such as Frenchmen St. and in the Marigny/Bywater neighborhoods.

Explore

Outside of food and music, New Orleans still retains its old world charm and customs. There are museums such as the Hermann-Grima and Gallier Historic Houses in the French Quarter that offer visitors a glimpse into life in the 19th century.
